Kerray Gordon, Manager at Musselburgh Private Nursery, along with staff members Leona Jack and Kelly Seydi recently undertook Social Services Children and Young People qualifications with the Department of Enterprise and Business Innovation (DEBI). Read what Kerray had to say below:
“I really can’t praise Borders College enough for their support and dedication to all candidates undergoing their Social Services Children and Young People at either level 7 or 9. As the manager, I have had constant responsive communication from the office, as well as each staff member’s assessor, keeping me posted on their progress and areas of development.
“My new candidates have felt so at ease starting their course. They have fed back that their assessor takes time to explain things, helps them understand what’s expected of them and is very responsive when communicating with them. As their Manager, this is just amazing to hear.
“My staff are confident and are content in their roles and with college work that they don’t ask for help. They know they can but they have all the support from the assessors at Borders College.
“I recently carried out my level 9 and from a personal experience, I can’t thank my assessor enough for having the patience and understanding during Covid times. Through my work and juggling home life and college work, she was understanding and supportive and never demanded anything.
“Her way of communicating with me is inspired and it’s something that I’ve adopted with my staff team in how I conduct myself at management level. I really can’t thank the whole team at Borders College enough. When enrolling new students, the team are always in touch quickly, they speak with me to check on how they are and if they are ready to start and understand personal circumstances.
“Going forward, I believe this is the college of choice for my nursery as I don’t think it can get any better. A huge thank you from me to the entire staff team at Borders College, you really should be proud of the work you do every day, I know I am.”
